Happy New Year from Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Hey, everybody, Happy New Year. Just a quick dispatch from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Playing a Music Fest here with all my Texas/Oklahoma/Red Dirt musician friends. It’s an annual thing, and my favorite party of the year. Didn’t drink much, just stayed up late lots and picked and sang and played cards and had a hell of a time. Also had a great time on the Canadian Cabin Fever tour in November and December, thanks to everybody who came out! I’m thrilled with the reception the new record is getting, and it’s fantastic having people want to hear all the NEW songs. We love that, because the new ones are still fresh and new for us, too. Also hope you all enjoyed our friends from Oklahoma, the Turnpike Troubadours, who opened the western half of the tour, and our old buddy John Evans and his band that played on the Eastern dates. I really like bringing my favourite bands up from the States that I meet on tour down there. They help us out down in there. A cultural exchange of sorts. The Troubs kicked it every night, and so did Evans, so if you see either of them on tour in Canada doing their own shows, make sure you go. Well, I have to run, I have to go duet a Townes Van Zandt song, ‘Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold’ with Evan from Turnpike. I know it marginally at best and it’s got a whole lot of words. Wish me luck. More next week. Take it easy. – Corb Lund

Happy New Year to you and your band as well, Corb! I sure enjoyed one of your Canadian Cabin Fever concerts – and your VIP acoustic performance inspired me to dig out some of your older CDs and revisit some of my old favorite songs as well! Looking forward to taking in your performances in Elko – my first time going to the Gathering. And YES! sure DID enjoy the Turnpike Troubadours! Thanks for inviting them to the party!
